Madrona Bluff Craftsman

A 1925 Craftsman on a quiet Madrona block, four houses from the bluff path down to the lake. Original Douglas fir millwork everywhere it should be — front porch columns, built-in dining-room buffet, the bookcase that flanks the fireplace, all of it intact and properly cared for. The house has the proportions and rhythm that the period got right: deep eaves, low-pitched roof, a real front porch that anchors the street.

Two updates worth flagging: the kitchen was opened to the dining area in 2014 in a way that respects the period (subway tile, soapstone counters, Shaker cabinets in unstained alder), and the basement was finished in 2020 with proper egress and a second bath, adding a fourth bedroom and a quiet office. Otherwise it’s the house the architect drew. Original windows have been restored, not replaced.
